OVERVIEW

The Associate Counselor role at Healthy Minds is responsible for providing regular therapeutic services to our clients and their families. This position requires a minimum caseload commitment of 10 clients and/or groups per week. Under the direction of the Healthy Minds Director, in partnership with the senior Licensed Clinicians, and as a part of a multidisciplinary team, the Associate Counselor will provide direct services including, but not limited to, individual, couples, family and group therapeutic services to clients. This will include intakes, treatment plans and termination plans. With the assistance of High School volunteers, the Associate Counselor will be responsible for developing and leading our Parent Education Programs.  In addition to therapeutic services of our clients, the Associate Counselor is required to attend a minimum of one hour of Clinical Supervision per week.  

SCOPE

This is a paid position which reports to the Healthy Minds Director. 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide therapeutic services to clients and their families: 

    • Be on-site (or online, for virtual sessions) no less than 15 minutes prior to all scheduled appointments

    • Assess clients' mental condition based on review of client information, interviews, observation, tests, and collaboration with other staff members as needed

    • Write session notes, highlighting any significant progress or concerns

    • Maintain confidentiality of records related to client treatment 

  • Complies with Applicable Regulations, Policies and Standards 

    • Articulates understanding of applicable HIPAA practices

    • Maintains privacy with regard to all records and client data

    • Commits to a maximum turnaround time of 24 business hours for all internal and client communications

      • Takes responsibility for delegating communication and emergency cases to supervisor in the event that turnaround time will not be able to be met

  • Demonstrates a Commitment to Teamwork

    • Attend mandatory monthly Team Meetings

    • Acts as an active participant on teams giving input and ideas, treating other team members with respect

    • Follows up on commitments made to the team for action items or communicates status and renegotiates timelines

    • Assures all practices and procedures support full integration of all sites and personnel

    • Communicates in an open, assertive manner at all times

    • Documents all client contacts accurately and completely to assure communication with all members of the team

  • Assumes responsibility for Self-Development

    • Identifies learning needs

    • Seeks educational or enrichment activities to meet learning needs

    • Accepts constructive feedback and seeks to improve performance continuously

    • Assume responsibility for maintaining active licensure and current certifications as required in employees’ job description

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to)

  • Maintains a minimum caseload of 10 clients and/or groups per week:

    • Meet with clients individually or in a group setting

    • Organize materials and resources as needed prior to each session

    • Manage your appointment schedule and document client attendance

    • Make required notations for each therapeutic session executed during the 10 minutes allocated between sessions

    • Ensures clients must be scheduled on the day, time, and frequency that was agreed upon with the administrators

    • Ensures all active clients shall be scheduled out through the clinicians open availability, per quarter at minimum

    • Ensures that all on-site clients should be charged for their appointment prior to their session ending, where applicable

    • Makes sure to schedule out their therapeutic and/or Zoom rooms through their availability, per quarter at minimum

    • Ensures all diagnosable clients must have a documented diagnosis within six sessions of treatment starting

  • Attends a minimum of one hour of Supervision per week

    • Meet the minimum required hours of Clinical Supervision set by your licensing board

    • Provide Supervisor with appropriate session notes and documentation

    • Discuss concerns related to client treatment as they arise

  • Develop and lead Parent Education Programs:

    • Develop and present relevant topics at our monthly Parent Night Sessions

    • Organize and host our biannual Parent Education Community Resource Series

    • Oversee the work and outreach provided by High School Volunteers

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Masters in Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or Counseling.

  • Holds a current Associate License as titled by your licensing board

  • Has completed all clinical hours as designated by your licensing board AND in the process of completing your testing for Clinical Licensure OR has worked at Healthy Minds for a minimum of two years as an Associate Counselor
