Post-Doctoral Psychologist Trainee

POSITION DESCRIPTION 2024

OVERVIEW

The Post-Doctoral Psychologist role at Healthy Minds is responsible for providing regular therapeutic and assessment services to our clients. This position requires a minimum commitment of one year with hours ramping up to a minimum of 20 per week. Under the leadership of the Director, in partnership with senior Licensed Clinicians, and as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Post-Doctoral Psychologist will provide direct services including, but not limited to, individual, couple, family and group therapeutic services to clients. The Post-Doctoral Psychologist will also conduct intakes, treatment plans and termination plans.

SCOPE

This is a salaried position which reports to the Healthy Minds Director. 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide therapeutic services to clients and their families: 

  • Be on-site (or online, for virtual sessions) no less than 15 minutes prior to all scheduled appointments

  • Assess clients based on review of client information, interviews, observation, tests, and collaboration with other staff members, as needed

  • Write session notes, highlighting any significant progress or concerns

  • Maintain confidentiality of records related to client treatment 

  • Provide assessment services to clients

    • Complete initial intake, review of records, testing, scoring, parent/client feedback session, and written report

    • Identify appropriate assessments to administer depending on referral question

  • Maintains a minimum caseload of 15 client hours per week, with remaining hours being delegated towards non-clinical activities:

    • Meet with clients individually or in a group setting

    • Organize materials and resources as needed prior to each session

    • Manage your appointment schedule and document client attendance

    • Make required notations for each therapeutic session executed during the 10 minutes allocated between sessions

    • Ensures clients must be scheduled on the day, time, and frequency that was agreed upon with the administrators

    • Ensures all active clients shall be scheduled out through the clinicians open availability, per quarter at minimum

    • Ensures that all on-site clients should be charged for their appointment prior to their session ending, where applicable

    • Makes sure to schedule out their therapeutic and/or Zoom rooms through their availability, per quarter at minimum

    • Ensures all diagnosable clients must have a documented diagnosis within six sessions of treatment starting

  • Complies with applicable regulations, policies and standards 

    • Articulate understanding of applicable HIPAA practices

    • Maintain privacy with regard to all records and client data

    • Commit to a maximum turnaround time of 24 business hours for all internal and client communications

      • Take responsibility for delegating communication and emergency cases to supervisor in the event that turnaround time will not be able to be met

  • Demonstrates a commitment to teamwork

    • Attend mandatory monthly Team Meetings.

    • Acts as an active participant on teams giving input and ideas, treating other team members with respect

    • Follow up on commitments made to the team for action items or communicates status and renegotiates timelines

    • Assure all practices and procedures support full integration of all sites and personnel

    • Communicate in an open, assertive manner at all times

    • Document all client contacts accurately and completely to assure communication with all members of the team

  • Assumes responsibility for self-development

    • Identify learning needs

    • Seek educational or enrichment activities to meet learning needs

    • Accept constructive feedback and seeks to improve performance continuously

    • Assume responsibility for maintaining active licensure and current certifications as required in employees’ job description

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Doctorate in Psychology or similar field

  • Holds a Registered Psychologist status with the California Board of Psychology

  • Minimum of 3 years clinical experience
