What’s New

Welcome Back Students & Parents!

As the new school year approaches, we want to highlight our Individualized Education Program (IEP) Consultation, which helps parents navigate the complexities of special education services. An IEP consultation serves as a guide to help parents understand and make informed decisions about their child's educational plan. With Dr. Lemke’s extensive experience in the community and collaboration with parents, these consultations offer a supportive space to discuss various aspects of your child's IEP, including test results, services, and educational goals.

We are thrilled to introduce our newest group: Science Group!

This eight-session group, starting the week of 8/18/25, will focus on improving executive function (EF) skills through engaging and educational science experiments. Each session is designed to foster skills such as planning, problem-solving, working memory, flexibility, and inhibitory control. By the end of this program, participants will not only have improved their executive function skills but also gained a deeper appreciation for the scientific process.

Let's embark on this exciting journey together!

School Smart: Navigating Education with Ease

Navigating the educational journey can be a complex and challenging process for both parents and children. In this edition of our newsletter, we aim to provide you with insight, tips, and resources to make this journey smoother and more rewarding.

Understanding Your Child's Learning Style

Every child has a unique way of learning. Identifying whether your child is a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learner can help tailor their educational experiences to better suit their needs. This not only enhances comprehension but also boosts their confidence.

Tips for Identifying Learning Styles:

  • Visual Learners: Benefit from diagrams, charts, and written directions. Encourage them to use color-coded notes or draw mind maps.

  • Auditory Learners: Thrive through listening. Engage them in discussions, use audiobooks, or have them explain concepts back to you.

  • Kinesthetic Learners: Prefer hands-on activities. Incorporate experiments, model-building, and interactive games into their study routines.

Effective Communication with Teachers

Building a strong relationship with your child’s educators can significantly impact their academic success. Here are some ways to foster productive communication:

  • Regular Check-ins: Schedule periodic meetings to discuss your child’s progress and any concerns.

  • Be Open and Honest: Share insights about your child’s strengths and areas needing support.

  • Collaborative Goal Setting: Work together to set achievable goals for your child’s development.

Homework Help: Making It Manageable

Homework can often become a battleground at home. Here are some strategies to make it more manageable:

  • Create a Dedicated Workspace: Ensure your child has a quiet, organized space to focus on their assignments.

  • Establish a Routine: Set a consistent time each day for homework to help develop a habit.

  • Breakdown Tasks: Help your child tackle large projects by breaking them into smaller, manageable tasks.

Leveraging Technology for Learning

With the right approach, technology can be a powerful tool in education. Explore educational apps and online resources that can support your child’s learning in fun and engaging ways. Just remember to balance screen time with offline activities to maintain a healthy routine.

By adopting these strategies, you can help your child navigate their educational journey with greater confidence and ease. Remember, your involvement and support play a crucial role in their academic success.
