Beth Pecoraro, AMFT, PPS
Associate Marriage Family Therapist, Pupil Personnel Services credential in School Counseling
Associate therapists have completed their academic training for a masters degree and have worked with children and families for several years. In order to sit for their licensing exam, they have to be supervised for approximately 3000 hours after getting their degree. They are currently being supervised by one of our licensed clinicians to obtain these hours and complete this training. Supervision is a collaborative process and your child will have the support of two very capable clinicians.
13+ years of school-based mental health experience

Beth enjoys getting to know her clients and building trust in order for sessions to be productive and feel safe. Rapport building is an integral part of working with others in therapy; Beth truly enjoys hearing clients’ stories, joining them on their journey, and ultimately working together towards their goals. Beth is passionate about working with young people, and their families, and she feels meeting the client where they are at is an important part of the therapeutic process. Beth will listen with an open mind and provide a non-judgmental space for clients to work towards their goals, while supporting them with coping skills and problem-solving techniques, and allow them to recognize their abilities. Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused therapy, and strength-based practices are modalities included in Beth’s practice in order to collaboratively work with clients and support them in their areas of need.
Inspired By
Working with children and families, being a spot for them to land, and hearing their stories is something that helps with the day-to-day, and challenges Beth to be that support for them. The social-emotional challenges that arise with youth, and the struggles that they have faced, allows Beth to continue her work as a therapist to best support the youth and families. Beth has realized the need that young people and families need, and she wants to provide that support. Being a school counselor has made her appreciate that not every day is the same, and that young people make each day worthwhile. Beth strives toward bettering herself daily and being a life-long learner. She’s ready to take on what it means to be a therapist, and continue to work with young people/families in a different capacity.

Tell Me More!
Allowing clients to ‘unpack’ in a safe, supportive space and being that sounding board, while providing clients with coping skills and healthy ways to be their best selves, are areas that Beth truly enjoys in this process. Watching clients learn self-advocacy skills, and build confidence through ways they didn’t know they could, is rewarding and an area that should be celebrated. Also, lessening the stigma around mental health concerns is what Beth strives to do, knowing that each client can be their best self with the right skillset, support, and others cheering them on. Beth’s ultimate goal is to get a certificate in postpartum maternal mental health and work with mothers postpartum, while continuing to work with young people. She feels it is important to focus on maternal mental health when starting a new family because of how hard some days can be and normalizing those struggles is okay.
Spending time with family and friends outside of work is what Beth loves to do. Whether that is being outside together, going for a bike ride, hiking, or cheering on her daughter at her extracurricular activities. Beth enjoys reading (and need to read more!) and baking. Originally from a small town outside of Boston, MA, means Beth is a big Boston sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots! An outdoor family movie night at home is a perfect way to spend an evening in Beth’s book!
Background
Beth started working with children in 2002 in a residential care facility setting as a child care counselor, and has continued to support children in various settings; from a Child Protective Services social worker, to a Regional Center case manager, and currently a middle school counselor. She’s enjoyed her own journey and working with youth in various roles, helping her reflect on her own strengths and areas of improvement. The resiliency so many youth embody has enlightened Beth’s work, while helping her to realize how important connection can be to young people. Beth has known she wanted to work with children for a long time, and she feels ready to continue her learning and growth as she becomes a therapist. Beth wants to be a resource to families and reduce the challenge that can come with trying to find therapeutic support.
