Healthy Minds is incredibly proud to present our newest Group Therapy offering, PEERS; the Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills. This world-renowned program provides evidence-based social skills treatment to preschoolers, adolescents, and young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, depression, and other socio-emotional problems. First developed at UCLA by Dr. Elizabeth Laugeson and expanded to locations in more than 80 countries, PEERS is a parent/caregiver-assisted, 16-weeks social skills intervention for youth with social challenges.
Does your teen have a hard time with social skills?
Do they find it hard to make friends?
The PEERS for Adolescents group here at Healthy Minds will provide social skills to your teen, and teach you as the parent/caregiver how to continue coaching your teen through each session and beyond, setting your teen up for sustainable success. By the end of the group, you as the parent/guardian will walk away with the skills to support your teen consistently moving forward, and your teen will carry their new social skills paired with their ongoing parental support system.
Teens will learn how to:
• Use appropriate conversational skills
• Use humor appropriately
• Use electronic communication
• Enter & exit conversations
• Be a good host during get-togethers
• Be a good sport
• Handle arguments and disagreements
• Change a bad reputation
• Handle rumors and gossip
• Handle rejection, teasing and bullying
